Journaling: N months later

tl;dr: I don't journal as often as I wanted to, but the little I have done, has been quite beneficial.

I know that many people want to keep a daily journal, where they mention all the thoughts and occurences that go on during their day. Unfortunately, I knew myself well enough to know that was never going to happen. I'm too scatterbrained to remember to write things down on a daily basis.

However, I did manage to teach myself to journal whenever I have a thought that needs to be taken out of my head. Whether it's a thought keeping me up at night, an idea for a synthesizer patch, or any future plans, I write those things down.

I also write some essay-sized entries. These are amazing for when I'm going through some difficult times, and want to make sense of things, when it feels like there's too much to process. Putting it all down on paper really helps me see all these problems, concerns, and the like, in a place where I don't have to address them at that time (if I don't need to). Basically, it lightens my cognitive load quite a bit, to focus on pressing items first, and then go back to said thoughts. Like human memory swapping.

It's awesome. I'll keep doing it.
